October NEWS!

Hello again!

It's been a busy 2 years as I've been engrossed in full time education to become a massage therapist. Now that classes have finished, one of my two college exams is complete and the dust has settled a bit, I'm looking forward to what lies ahead.  I have some exciting things happening in the coming months and I wanted to share them with you!
  • Firstly, I am excited to announce that I will be presenting at the Healthy Dancer Canada conference in Calgary, Alberta next month. Healthy Dancer Canada is an organization that aims to support the health and wellness of dancers in Canada. Bringing together dancers, dance educators, health care professionals and researchers, HDC is one of the leading forces in creating a culture of healthy dance practice in Canada. I am so honoured and proud to be presenting at this conference. I will be speaking about supplementary training for dancers, more specifically how to go about structuring this training throughout an annual training year. The conference will be happening November 10-12, and I highly encourage anyone in the dance community who is interested in the health of dancers to attend this conference. Visit www.healthydancercanada.org to learn more! See you in Calgary!

  • After an amazing first round of my Safe Dance Practice course, I’m thrilled to say I will be running it again in the new year! York University has asked me to come in and teach the full course to their students. I will be revamping the material to prepare these students for a certificate in healthy dance practice from Safe in Dance International. This course is unfortunately full, but if there is interest I will look into running it again for dance educators looking to increase their knowledge and application of safe dance practice.  Don't be shy!

  • With some more time on my hands (now that school is complete) I have taken on some new private clients. These young dancers are looking for help with technique, alignment and injury management. I am still taking on a few more private clients so please be in touch if you are interested in working privately with me in whatever capacity.

  • This year, I will be starting to teach supplementary training classes at some local dance schools in Toronto.  These classes will prepare dancers for the demands of dance and ensure they are strong, mobile and injury free! Classes will use a combination of strength training, Pilates, imagery work and dance specific movements. If you are interested in having me come in to teach at your school please be in contact.  These can be arranges as weekly classes, or as workshops.

  •  Lastly, the process of becoming a registered massage therapist in Ontario is long and full of many different hoops but I’m thrilled to say I’m almost there! As soon as I am registered I will be seeing private clients for massage therapy and will be providing a combination of both active and manual therapy. If you’re interested in learning more about what massage therapy can do for you, please be in touch.

That's all for now!
